These rules apply to everyone representing the [niceFX] guild tag in Discord and in-game, including Guild Chat, Global Chat, Trade Chat, public groups, and trades with other players.

As a member of niceFX, you represent this community when you wear our tag. Our guild includes people of different genders, sexual orientations, nationalities, cultures, skill levels, ages, and backgrounds. Have respect for yourself! Treat others with respect!

We do not tolerate sexism, racism, antisemitism, bullying, harassment, insults, elitist behavior, scamming, or deliberately treating other players like shit. This is a video game. We are here to play games and enjoy ourselves, not get dragged into political, religious, or current-event arguments. Do not spam people or channels. Humor goes a long way as long as it does not cross the line. Be yourself, not ignorant.

MEMBERSHIP

We are looking for active League + Standard players in Path of Exile I + II.

18+ or at least act like it!

We prioritize members who participate socially, especially players active in voice and guild communication.

We welcome new players and are happy to help people understand the game.

Anyone may recruit new members and invite friends to Discord through ⁠🗣️invite-your-friends

To request in-game membership for yourself or a friend, post the player's In-Game Name (IGN) and whether the invite is for PoE I or PoE II in ⁠🗿guild-chat

Donations are not required and may be rejected when unnecessary, but the thought is appreciated. Special thanks to everyone who has contributed to building this Discord and our in-game community.

GUILD GOVERNANCE

niceFX is intended to give established members a voice in decisions affecting the community. Council members may vote on guild proceedings. Votes are tallied by the Guild Leader(s), and once a verdict is reached the decision is final. In situations involving a tie, conflict, bias, financial obligation, security issue, or circumstances where no clear consensus exists, the Guild Leader(s) retain final veto authority. The guild will continue to evolve. Members are the lifeblood of the guild and their participation helps guide that evolution. Be kind. Pay it forward. Keep the stash useful.

GUILD STASH

The guild stash exists to help the community. Keep it organized. Do not dump garbage into useful tabs and expect somebody else to clean it up. Take what you need when you need it. Try to put back roughly as much value as you take over time. It is not acceptable to pillage 50+ items from the guild stash in one sitting unless those items are inside the designated RED TRASH/PURGE tab. Items in TRASH/PURGE may be taken indiscriminately. Players who consistently take from the guild stash and never contribute will be marked for shitty behavior. Repeated offenses may result in removal from the guild. Guild stash permissions may change, so pay attention to the tab labels. If you are trading using currency loaned by another guild member, verify your trade. Do not add getting scammed to the amount somebody else already loaned you. Whenever possible, open useful maps or content to guild members by announcing them in guild chat or inviting other members directly. Officers are expected to occasionally host games and help members complete objectives or advance their builds.

BECOMING AN OFFICER IN-GAME

Officer is not simply a reward for time served. It is a position of trust and responsibility. Officers must:

Play actively.

Participate in both Discord and in-game guild communication.

Have previously interacted with Council members in voice chat.

Be an in-game guild member for more than 2 years, unless personally promoted by a Guild Leader.

Consistently demonstrate consideration and selflessness toward other members.

DISCORD RANKS

WHIMWROUGHT

You are assigned Whimwrought automatically if you leave Discord and later return. Your previous Discord rank is removed. Leaving Discord repeatedly will result in an automatic ban.

EXILE → ASCENDANT

Your rank automatically updates from Exile to Ascendant after 14 days. You can accelerate recognition by actually participating: join voice, talk to people, participate in guild chat, and become part of the community.

ASCENDANT → VANGUARD

Your rank automatically updates from Ascendant to Vanguard after 90 days, provided you are a member of the in-game guild or are personally promoted by a Guild Leader. Vanguard provides access to additional Discord content and voice channels. You must verify your membership in order to obtain this rank.

VANGUARD → COUNCIL

Council members have access to additional content, discussions, voting, bot commands, and voice channels. Council members must:

Play actively and participate in Discord and in-game guild communication.

Be an in-game guild member for more than 5 years, unless personally promoted by a Guild Leader.

Demonstrate exceptional consideration and selflessness toward other members.

Can someone help me craft something? Yes. Again, be patient. When asking for crafting assistance, explain:

What you need crafted.

Your budget.

What build it is for.

Whether you are playing League or Standard.

Any incentive or tip you are offering.

BUILD HELP

Can someone help me with my build? Yes. Be patient. Brand-new Discord members may not immediately have access to every help channel. Some channels require at least ASCENDANT rank. When asking for help, provide enough information for somebody to actually understand what you are trying to accomplish. Remember, asking for help does not create an obligation for another player to immediately provide it.

ENGLISH IN DISCORD & IN-GAME

niceFX is a multinational community, but English is our common language. Global guild communication should primarily be in English so everyone has the opportunity to participate in the conversation. If you do not speak English well, that is not a problem. You can try writing in your own language and Discord bots may translate it. Our Discord automatically translates many messages from languages including Spanish, French, German, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Turkish, Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Urdu, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Czech, and Greek. Private conversations and direct messages between players are their own business. The goal is not perfect English, it is inclusion.

SOCIAL DECENCY

Path of Exile is an extremely individualistic game. It rewards knowledge, efficiency, wealth, optimization, competition, secrecy, and sometimes mistrust. niceFX does not work that way. Discord is a social environment containing actual people. The usernames around you are not NPCs, technical-support employees, an audience, or disposable sources of information. If you enter a voice channel, say hello. You do not need to make a speech. "Hey guys" is enough. Do not silently join a voice channel, immediately begin streaming your screen, and assume everybody should stop what they are doing and watch you. If you want somebody to look at something, communicate: "Hey, can somebody look at this?" Do not appear only when you need something. Do not repeatedly ask questions while never participating in anybody else's conversation. Do not expect strangers to immediately invest their time into you when you have made no effort to become part of the community. Announce yourself. Participate. Respond. Acknowledge people. Being introverted is fine. Being shy is fine. Listening more than you speak is fine. Nobody expects everyone to be loud or charismatic. There is, however, a difference between being quiet and making absolutely no effort to acknowledge or interact with the community you voluntarily joined. Nobody cares if your introduction is awkward. Nobody cares if you occasionally say something stupid. Nobody cares if your English is imperfect. Nobody cares if you mostly listen. Make an effort. This is probably one of the easiest environments available to practice being social because everybody already has something in common: We all play the same game.

ATTENTION IS EARNED, NOT OWED

Your question does not automatically become somebody else's responsibility because you typed it into Discord. If somebody spends twenty minutes examining your build, explaining a mechanic, helping you craft something, running content with you, or teaching you the game, remember that those twenty minutes came out of their own free time. Respect that. People naturally invest more time into people they recognize, interact with, trust, and enjoy having around. If nobody knows who you are because you never speak, never post, never react, never help, and never participate, do not be surprised when nobody immediately drops what they are doing when you suddenly need assistance. Reciprocity matters.

DO NOT OPTIMIZE THE HUMANITY OUT OF THE COMMUNITY

Path of Exile encourages optimization. We optimize currency, builds, maps, trading, crafting, experience, farming strategies, and practically everything else. Do not optimize your social interactions until every conversation becomes: "What can this person do for me?" Not every interaction needs to be transactional. Sometimes you sit in voice and bullshit. Sometimes somebody shows you a terrible build. Sometimes somebody posts an item nobody cares about. Sometimes somebody tells a story you have already heard three times. That's a community. Efficiency belongs inside the game. Applying it to every human interaction surrounding the game makes for a miserable guild.

EGO IS NOT EXPERTISE

Path of Exile contains an enormous amount of knowledge. Knowing more than somebody else can easily become ego. Being knowledgeable does not make you inherently more important than a newer player. Having more currency does not make you important. Having a stronger build does not automatically make your opinion correct. Playing for ten years does not give you permission to treat newer players like idiots. At the same time, newer players need to respect the time experienced players donate when helping them. Ask questions. Challenge ideas. Disagree. Discuss mechanics. Do not turn every disagreement into a competition over who is smarter. Knowledge should circulate through the guild, not become social currency people hoard to establish superiority.

PARTICIPATE IN THE COMMUNITY YOU WANT TO HAVE

A guild cannot be maintained entirely by moderators, officers, and ten highly active people. If everyone waits for somebody else to start conversations, voice channels become empty. If everyone waits for somebody else to recruit, the guild stops growing. If everyone waits for somebody else to answer questions, nobody gets help. If everybody consumes and nobody contributes, eventually there is nothing left to consume. We value members who take an active interest in starting conversations, joining voice, recruiting new players, welcoming new members, answering questions, commenting on posts, sharing builds, posting discoveries, creating content, organizing groups, or helping somebody who knows less than they do. i.e. Say "Hello" when members come online. Say "Welcome" when new members join the guild.
